TOP TIP No 1: WHEN IS THE RIGHT TIME TO START YOUR RECOVERY?
Here is your first Top Tip to help you move forwards positively.....
Let's think about when the right time to start your recovery would be. Maybe tomorrow or next week or after some big event in your life? ERRRR NO! NOWWWWWWWW, it’s undeniably, right NOW.
The good news is you don’t need to wait until you feel 100% ready to start recovery! Because let's be honest, that will probably be never!
What would happen if you decided here and now that you were going to take your leprechaun by the horns and begin to address all his negative babbling connected to your thinking, feelings, your triggers, and urges that cause your bingeing and purging?
If you don't feel ready now to begin your recovery, then zip back to step 8 and tap on "Even though I don't feel ready to start recovery, I deeply and completely respect myself" and then see what comes up? Then keep tapping. What have you got to lose?
What could be the worst thing that’s going to happen to you? Let me tell you, NOTHING, just an improvement in your health.
SO, ARE YOU READY TO SPRING OFF THAT MERRY-GO-ROUND AND FLIP THAT SPIKY LEPRECHAUN’S HORNS INTO OBLIVION?
Make the decision
This may not be an easy decision to make, but the sooner you begin looking at and addressing your behaviors, the faster you’ll recover.
Yes, you might have slips and slides, and that’s to be expected, but it’s staying focused on your decision; think about how you’ll be in 3 months from now. How much healthier you’ll look, think, and feel, how proud you’ll be of yourself.
YES, COME ON… YOU CAN DO THIS…
TOP TIP No 2: IT'S TIME TO CREATE A VISION
You need to have a vision, a picture, an image of where you’re going with your recovery, how you’re going to change when you've achieved that 3-month goal and live it in your mind.
Use your new toolbox of submodalities from Step 1, and "The picture a new you" technique. Create an image of how you would like to look, think, and feel in 3 months to truly empower you to feel excited and motivated to take action. By reinforcing your positive self-image with powerful, positive feelings, you start to teach your brain that you want to change.
What image are you creating? Make it bigger, brighter, super colorful, as if it's the most empowering image you’ve ever seen. BOOM! Jump into that image and feel that energizing inspiration rising as the excitement of change engulfs you.
This is what'll give you the drive to stay focused. You’ll feel so much more durable; you'll feel amazing, healthier, and have more energy.
Visualize your positive recovery
Once you’ve made it to the 1-month mark, then focus on your recovery for the next month. Look at what you need to change or do differently, maybe nothing. But imagine this in great detail.
Taking it day by day, week by week, month by month. Studies show people recovering from bulimia once they reach that 6-month goal then motivates them to continue until they’re entirely free from bulimia.
Once you’ve achieved your 6-month goal, then focus on the next 3 months, step by step.
