HOW OFTEN DO YOU WEIGH YOURSELF?

SCALES

So do you have a habit of weighing yourself on those dreaded scales more than you should?

Many of my clients weigh themselves every day, sometimes 20 plus times a day. For some, their scales become an obsession and rule their life. I know, as I was like a crazed kangaroo, hopping on and off multiple times a day.

Are they helping you to become thinner? Or do they just ruin your day?

SO, IT IS TIME TO TOSS THOSE SCALES IN THE BIN NOW!

This may sound scary. Yes, I understand this. But there are other ways of telling how you’re doing with your weight such as, ideally, from the way your clothes fit.

Your scales have you focus on the one thing that you don’t want to be focusing on, yes, your weight. You don’t need a piece of metal to cause you to feel terrible about yourself, to ruin our whole day, and drive you to binge and purge. You do that yourself! Your scales are just another way to drive your mind crazy with uncontrollable thoughts.

So, what do the scales actually weigh?

When you stand on scales, they aren’t just weighing fat, but that whole lovely you, your bones, muscles, water, and your weight and can change for so many biological reasons; for example, throughout the month, women retain more water.

“It’s time to change that tale and make a new wish.

Out with the scales, you are not a fish!”

Toss those scales in the ocean where they belong.

By reading through all the techniques in this book, you can free yourself of the tight grasp that bulimia has over you.

By making this critical decision to toss those scales into the ocean where they belong, you can then:

  1. Relax! Yes, this thought may be initially challenging and scary. But it’s one way you can free yourself from the self-punishment you put yourself through every time you step on them.

  1. Letting go of this destructive habit of weighing yourself will assist you in releasing some of the thought triggers that are connected to the shame of weight gain that sends you into that downward spiral of bingeing and purging.

Okay, so zip back and batter this habit with the “Shatter That Habit” technique earlier in this step.

Freeing yourself of this habit and the control the scales have is a significant decision that will help propel you into your recovery.
