I'M SCARED OF PUTTING ON WEIGHT

I’m scared of putting on weight

Step 6, is all about the worries of putting weight on. So pop back and read this step to help you to understand further that while this may happen, it’s only TEMPORARY. It won’t last forever. Your weight will lessen.

It’s your body adjusting to being fed and watered. You’re just like a wilting flower. Providing food and water, you’ll flourish into the blossoming beauty you were before the bulimia grabbed hold.

Imagine you’ve been in the garden and cut some beautiful pink roses. And you forgot to put them in water. Hours later, you remember, only to find wilting, tired, withering faded pink roses. Cutting the ends, you pop them in a vase of fresh water and nutrients. Within a couple of hours, your withering roses are a vibrant pink, sturdy, blooming beauties.

This will be once you start to change and focus on your eating plan. You too will be like a glorious, pink, energized, refreshed, new stunning rose.

By now, you’ll be getting good at tapping and tuning in to what thoughts and feelings you’re having.

Description automatically generatedGrab your notebook and ask yourself this question:

What specifically are you scared of if you put weight on?

Work through your list, reducing what thoughts and feelings come up until you have each one down to a 0.

For example:

“Even though I’m scared to put weight on when I start on my structured eating program, I deeply accept myself.”

“Even though I might not stop putting on weight when I start eating again, I deeply accept myself.” (Remember what you learned about your body's natural set point; if you don’t, then hop back to Step 6, and reread).
