HOW STRESSED ARE YOU?

LET'S TALK ABOUT YOUR STRESSSSS

Stress can saturate all aspects of our lives with a potent mix of bodily symptoms and anxious thinking. It’s time to unravel stress-inducing thoughts. See them in a more accurate perspective, and that weakens their hold.

What is stress?

There are many different stresses, including both:

External sources – social factors such as pressure for that perfect body or hurtful comments, family problems, stuck in traffic, financial issues, work demands, and the list goes on.

Internal sources – thoughts such as a negative interpretation of a situation that triggers a stress response that leads you to binge and purge.

Interpretation matters

Your stress levels are directly related to your interpretation of an event that triggers the stress. Imagine you found the biggest, ugliest toad in the garden, one person might be afraid while others may be calm and find It exciting.

No one can avoid stressful experiences; our lives are brimming with them. The goal is to manage your stress skilfully. A crucial part of this is to be aware of your internal worry, your devious leprechaun, and his thoughts and stories as they contribute to your stress.

STRESSOMETER

How stressed are you right now?

We can’t avoid stressful experiences. They’re always lurking around one corner or another. Your goal is to begin to manage your stress skilfully. A crucial part of this is to be aware of your internal worry and your devious leprechaun and his thoughts and stories, as they contribute to your stress. Your stress levels are directly related to your interpretation of an event that triggers the stress.

Each day, I would like you to rate where you are on the stressometer scale. Write this in the stressometer table and then start to use your new relaxation breathing technique which you will be learning about in the next lecture and begin to create a new habit to begin to calm you when you’re feeling stressed.

Keeping tabs on your stress levels and what causes you to zip up that scale will remind you to practice your breathing technique to reduce that stress and create a positive new habit instantly.
